2020/21 Grant Season is now open!

W&RSETA registered wholesale and retail companies have until 30 April 2020 to submit Annexure II (Workplace Skills Plan / Annual Training Report / PIVOTAL Plan) documents for the 2020/21 financial year. Submissions must be made on the new Management Information System which is accessible from www.wrsetaonline.org.za under Stakeholder Login. Stakeholders that require assistance to access the system or require capacitation should contact their relevant regional office.

WORKPLACE-BASED LEARNING PROGRAMMES REGULATIONS

Stakeholders are reminded of the Regulations on Workplace-based Learning Programmes which came into effect on 18 November 2018. The W&RSETA has prepared a guideline to assist stakeholders to comply with the Regulations. Please note that compliance is not optional and is effective from 18 November 2018. Stakeholder should contact their relevant W&RSETA regional office for assistance with these requirements.

NATIONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PLAN PUBLISHED

On 7 March 2019, the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Ms Naledi Pandor, after consultation with the National Skills Authority, published propagated the highlight anticipated National Skill Development Plan (NSDP)which replaces the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS). The NSDP will become the blue print for skills development in South Africa and will be implemented from 1 April 2020.

TAXATION LAWS AMENDMENT ACT

Stakeholders are informed of the amendment to the Unemployment Insurance (UIF) Act through the Taxation Laws Amendment Act, No. 17 of 2017 which now includes 18.2 (unemployed) learners on Learnership programmes in the UIF provision. Please refer to the communique that addresses this issues, particularly the impact on contracts in terms of Section 18(2) of the Skills Development Act, No. 9 of 1999 (“SDA Act”).
